The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Ingenieros Unidos, is sponsoring a Day of Science for the Community. The event will consist of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) field guest speakers and hands-on activities, as well as a light breakfast and lunch, and project materials.
The purpose of the event is to encourage students to pursue higher education and expose them to STEM studies. Students will be grouped into teams with one or two of our members to help guide them through the process of building model bridges as part of a competition.
This activity will give students a glimpse into what college and industry responsibilities are like considering time constraints, group work and ultimately getting a project delivered.
As an organization, our goals are to develop our members as professionals and community leaders before graduating. This includes mentoring and exposing younger generations to the various opportunities STEM provides.
