HSRI is proud to announce the inaugural 2020 Graduate Student Discussion Group: Race, Research and Academia.
Our graduate student members share a common interest in health-related research, which has both a broad interpretation and implications across fields. By examining the role racism plays in physical health, the lived environment, policy and academia, we hope students will gain research-based perspectives on equity which can be applied throughout their careers.
This series has been planned in the spirit of the UC Merced campus solidarity statement with Black Lives Matter protests, as well as our Diversity Statement.
Details:
Monthly one-hour zoom discussions, starting in late September 2020. The final list of the readings will be posted closer to the discussion dates, but potential readings are listed below. All graduate students and postdoctoral scholars with interest in this topic are invited to attend. The exact times/date of the sessions will be scheduled among students who have registered before September 7th, but registrations will be taken on an on-going basis.
