Emily Ellis received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology at the Pennsylvania State University in 2019. From there she worked as a research assistant at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for two years. She worked as a clinical research assistant at OSF St. Francis Medical Hospital in Peoria, Illinois for the following two years before beginning in the Health Psychology PhD program at UC Merced in 2023. 

Under the mentorship of Dr. Deborah Wiebe, Emily's research broadly focuses on coping with type 1 diabetes throughout the lifespan. Her current research focuses on optimal disease management, including the role of social support and technology use in diabetes care.
