Mamata Pokhrel is a dedicated public health professional, researcher, and an Ayurvedic physician. She holds a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree from the Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and a Master of Science in Public Health from the University of California, Merced. Currently, she is working as a Special Project Coordinator at the Merced County Department of Public Health (MCDPH), where she is contributing to Community Health Assessment (CHA), Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP), Strategic Planning, Implementation Planning, and public health reaccreditation process. She is also a Research Associate with UC Merced Health Sciences Research Institute (HSRI) on a CDPH-funded project led by Dr. Paul Brown, focusing on counties’ health prioritization process.
Mamata Pokhrel developed her leadership and communication abilities while serving as the General Secretary for the Public Health Student Executive Board at UC Merced and as an interim president for the student union at Ayurveda Campus, Nepal. She is well-versed in epidemiology, biostatistics, and research analysis, making her a well-rounded public health practitioner.

She is committed to improving public health outcomes, addressing health disparities, and the healthcare system on a global scale. Her research interests include health service research, health equity, cardiometabolic disease, behavioral health, and vector-borne disease. Her expertise in healthcare, public health research, and health service experience inspires her research interests.
