Graduate Research Training Program

The COEHD Graduate Research Training Program is no longer available.

The UC Merced Center of Excellence for the Study of Health Disparities in Rural and Ethnic Underserved Populations was established to address the critical need to train and educate individuals who are knowledgeable about health disparities and well equipped to find effective solutions.

Poverty, education, and environmental and cultural sustainability represent just some of the overlapping influences on health that are among the most serious for both the local and the global communities.

Many of our local communities rank amongst the highest in California in the prevalence of disease and amongst the lowest in health care access.

The Graduate Research Training Program was designed to provide education and research training with a particular emphasis on understanding the etiology and molecular aspects of health and disease as well as the socioeconomic and cultural factors that influence health disparities. Information on past graduate students and their research is archived on our web site.
