Hi! My name is Marisol Hernandez Garcia and I am a first-generation Latina graduate student. During my undergraduate years at UC Merced,  I joined Dr. Ortiz’s Lab through the SURI program in the sumer of my senior year and continued my research as a U-RISE fellow.  These experiences solidified my passion for research and led me to pursue graduate studies in the QSB program. The lab focuses on integrative physiology, examining how metabolic systems respond to disease and therapeutic interventions. My current research focuses on the effects of pseudocannabinoids on cardiovascular health in metabolic syndrome.
