
Emely Covarrubias graduated from UC Merced in 2020 with a B.A. in Psychology. Next, she graduated from CSU Fresno in 2022, earning an M.A. in Psychology, and there she was a Sally-Casanova scholar. She is currently a fellow in the California Doctoral Incentive Program and a Ph.D. candidate in Developmental Psychology in the Psychological Sciences department. She is part of the Immigrant Parents, Adolescents, and Children Thriving (IMPACT) lab, where she is advised by Dr. Mayra Bámaca.
Emely’s research aims to examine how adversity may influence mental and physical health among adolescent and young adult samples. She is particularly interested in identifying points of intervention and resiliency factors that can help mitigate negative mental health symptoms and support positive development in Latine populations.
