2023 HSRI member survey

Thank you for taking the time to complete this brief survey.

Your participation in this survey is important. It will determine whether and how HSRI will continue as an ORU on campus.

As you may know, HSRI is preparing to undergo its five-Year Review. This involves both an internal assessment by the Executive Committee members and its members, and an external assessment by reviewers from outside UC Merced. As part of that process, HSRI is required to compile information about its activities, describe the extent to which it has achieved its objectives to date, and provide a plan for the future. The results of the review ultimately go to the Vice Chancellor of Research and Economic Development, the Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor, and the Chancellor.

In writing the report, we would like to make sure that we reflect both the strengths of HSRI and the areas where there could be improvement. So, we were hoping that you might take 10 minutes to provide us with feedback.

Your responses are anonymous, and so please feel free to provide an honest assessment.

Thank you in advance.

Taking the perspective of an external reviewer of HSRI, please let us know what you think are the main strengths of HSRI as it has been operating.
Again, imagining yourself as an external reviewer, please tell us what see as issues or concerns for HSRI.
One of HSRI’s goals is to target opportunities to fund HIGH, MEDIUM and LOW cost initiatives and shared resources through philanthropic and/or granting agencies and individuals. Please give us your suggestions for resources we could include in a “Capacity Building Request Portfolio”, including estimated cost to acquire, maintain and operate, and estimated number of major users (as possible)
In more general terms, what role would you like to see HSRI play on campus going forward?
