Violeta (Violet) Rios joined HSRI as an Administrative Assistant with our research administration team in May 2024. Before joining UC Merced, Violet worked for 25 years for the Central Valley Opportunity Center (CVOC), which provides vocational training and other supportive programs to low-income and farmworker families. Violet started as an Assistant Instructor, transitioning to lead instructor for the Office Occupations class, and as a instructor for the Calworks program. She also worked as a specialist for the CVOC Management Information Systems department. At HSRI, Violet reports directly to Leann. She draws on her prior experience and is learning a variety of new skills to support Monica with HR/AP processes, and our post-award Research Administrators with grant management.
