I am a third-year graduate student that is trying to establish this new system for characterizing immunity in Hydra by producing monoclonal antibodies that specifically recognize Hydra epitopes. This can open doors for other people with similar research interests as they will have the capability of using this new methodology for accomplishing projects that involve characterizing immunity of cnidarians. I also work as a TA as this is a requirement for grad students involved in the QSB program. This is probably the most rewarding part of my experience as I really enjoy teaching other students and giving them advice that they can take with them as they progress towards their own research aspirations.
