Assistant Professor, Anthropology & Heritage Studies, School of Social Sciences, Humanities & Arts
Beth K. Scaffidi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology and Heritage Studies. She is a spatially-oriented anthropological bioarchaeologist who studies how people make the places that make their bones—from the distant past to present day.
Dr. Scaffidi directs the Skeletal and Environmental Isotope Laboratory and archaeological field research where she leverages isotopic, histological, osteological, and spatial analysis techniques to explore how social strategies (e.g., urbanization, mobility networks) and changing environments influence health and nutrition outcomes recorded by human skeletal tissues.
