I am a second-year Ph.D. student in the Cognitive and Information Sciences department. My current research involves understanding the role of visual modality in providing the contextual cues during a conversation in a natural setting. Through my study we established the idea that auditory modality sets the pace for both auditory and visual streams. This reliance of visual modality for the temporal aspect gives rise to Audio-visual time flow illusion (AV-TFI). We further plan to explore how brain process involved in AV-TFI through imaging technique like fNIRS (functional near infrared spectroscopy). This will give us an insight into how both auditory and visual modalities are interacting during this multisensory processing.
