In general terms, we study the molecular mechanisms that regulate glucose and lipid metabolism during altered and naturally adapted conditions including periods for food deprivation or prolonged fasting.

We are particularly interested in how the dysregulation of metabolism contributes to the development of metabolic diseases like cardiovascular, cardiorenal, and liver disorders. We are also interested in how nutritional interventions modulate the mechanisms that regulate metabolism.
