Dr. Spitzmueller’s research has focused on Occupational Health Psychology and workforce diversity and workforce development. She currently serves as the Project Director of a nine-institution $2M NSF-funded research consortium dedicated to examining validity and bias in promotion and tenure decision making. Her research on health in organizational settings has attracted NIH funding, and her work on workplace health and safety was funded by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine’s (NASEM) Gulf Research Program. Dr. Spitzmueller led the University of Houston’s program in Occupational Health Psychology, and served as the Director of the Ph.D. Program in Industrial/Organizational Psychology before joining UC Merced. She has served as a reviewer on NIH and NSF panels focusing on workforce development for biomedical science disciplines.
