Assistant Professor, Sociology, School of Social Sciences, Humanities & Arts

Trained in medical sociology and public health, Dr. Polonijo studies health disparities along axes of socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity. She currently leads research projects that focus on the social determinants of vaccination and LGBTQ+ health and collaborates on community-based research with people living with HIV.

Dr. Polonijo has published more than 20 articles in leading social science and health journals including Social Science & Medicine, Journal of Health and Social Behavior, Journal of Adolescent Health, AIDS and Behavior, and LGBT Health.
