Alexandra (Ali) Rivera-Gonzalez, Ph.D

Alexandra (Ali) Rivera-Gonzalez
Assistant Professor, Public Health, School of Social Sciences and Humanities

Dr. Rivera-González’s research areas include Latino and immigrant health, public health emergencies, health care outcomes, and health policy. Her primary goal is to study Latino health disparities and advance health equity through community-rooted work. Her research also aims to disentangle how local and national health policies, including Medicaid and Medicare structures, disproportionately impact Latino and immigrant communities across the United States (US).

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, some of her work centers around the archipelago’s health system, the impact of recent public health emergencies, and how its current political status as a US territory affects the implementation of health policies, access to quality care, and utilization of health services.
