Think agriculture has always been Merced County's only industry?
Come learn more about the history of the area through a new exhibit entitled Yosemite Lumber Company at Merced Falls at the Merced County Courthouse Museum through June 10.
The UC Merced Library will electronically store most of the exhibit's wonderful digitized historic photos, and a UC Merced grad student has made invaluable contributions to the exhibit, including developing an interactive digital map of Merced Falls at the turn of the 20th century, when there was a thriving lumber company with more than 1,000 workers and an active railroad line in the busy little town.
The Merced County Courthouse Museum is at 21st and N streets.
